Identification of reservoir fractures on FMI image logs using Canny and Sobel edge detection algorithms

Because of the significant impact fractures on production in hydrocarbon reservoirs, identification these phenomena is a very important issue. Image logs are one best tools for revealing and studying reservoir researcher can get lots information about geological features wells, by analyzing logs. In this research, two approaches have been used to determine wells A B located oil fields southwest Iran. first approach, using Geolog software (version-7), after processing correction raw image log data, number, position, dip, extension, layering, density expansion identified. second considering that FMI images edges, Canny Sobel filters as edge detection operators detect images.
